CyberSisters

I have a friend who I recently had a (sort of) debate with regarding the (her view) impersonal, plastic, false reality of Facebook, text message relationships. For me, that idea could not be farther from the truth. My sisters and our cyber connection are my lifeline! After the death of my husband two years ago, I email, SKYPE, send photos, texted my four sisters on a regular basis. It may be annoying to them....but it has kept me from sinking into a deep pit of depression and despair.  I feel, I am interacting with a real person., even if they don't answer right away. As an extrovert, I had (really needed) daily contact with my husband where we would talk about life on an adult level. I send one of my sisters mundane things like what I am eating for breakfast. She may not know it, but the two minutes it takes her to say something back, could be the most important two minutes of her life!! Those two minutes keep me from plummeting over the edge. What are your thoughts on Cyber relationships?

  1. I'm all for it. The cyber relations keep me going often, and can also let me know when it's time to talk in person or on the phone. But, in the meantime I haven't lost track of where they are, what's going on in their lives, etc.
